We decided to venture to Assateague Island in Maryland, near Ocean City, over Labor Day weekend. These guys were trying to cross the street right as we got across the bridge to the island. And that gave us a pretty good shot of them (unfortunately they became more and more elusive as the weekend wore on).
There is a long and storied history of these magnificent wild animals, with many myths and legends going back over 300 years. And I’ll certainly get to it someday soon. But you can’t argue with the fact that they are beautiful creatures. So, for today, enjoy!
